Associate Professor. Structural investigations into porins, PTS transporters, hyaluronidase, antigen-antibody complexes, and response regulators of the c-di-GMP signal cascade. Teaching in Structural Biology (Bio4, Blockkurs, graduate teaching).

1992 – 1997Junior group leader and habilitation. Membrane protein crystallography on non-specific porins and maltoporin; structure analysis of components of the bacterial mannose transporter; prediction of membrane protein topology, structure analysis of enzymes.
1989 – 1992Research associate in the Department of Structural Biology of the Biozentrum (Prof. J.N. Jansonius); X-ray structural investigations on various aspartate amino transferase complexes, other pyridoxal phosphate dependent enzymes and on membrane proteins (porins from E.coli).
Education:1987 – 1988 Post-doctoral fellow with Dr. P.R. Evans at the Laboratory of Molecular Biology, MRC, Cambridge, England; X-ray analysis of the inactive (T-state) form of the allosteric enzyme phosphofructokinase and elucidation of the regulatory mechanism.
1982 – 1987Ph.D. student and post-doctoral fellow at the Max-Planck-Institut für Biochemie, Martinsried with Prof. R. Huber; Ph.D. thesis (1985): “X-ray structure analysis of the light-harvesting phycobiliprotein C-phycocyanin”.
